I am a Juniorprofessor at the University of Augsburg in the group Algebra and Number Theory. In December 2018 I received a positive evaluation, and thus hold an equivalent of a habilitation.
Before coming to Augsburg, I have been a postdoc at IAG in Hannover, ICTP in Trieste, and IHES in Bures-sur-Yvette.
Prior to all of the above, I did my PhD studies at the MPIM in Bonn under the supervision of Yuri Manin.
Research interests
I am broadly interested in algebra and geometry. More specifically, I work on questions in algebraic geometry inspired by string theory. In particular, my interests include Gromov-Witten theory, quantum cohomology, derived categories of coherent sheaves and mirror symmetry.
Current teaching
- Seminar on linear algebraic groups
- Reading group on perfectoid spaces (jointly with Marco Hien and Marc Nieper-Wißkirchen)
Organisation
I am involved in the organisation of
- Oberseminar zur Algebra und Zahlentheorie
- Augsburger Mathematisches Kolloquium
In November 2019 we were honoured to host Alexander Smirnov from St. Petersburg. There were two special events on this occasion:
- Master minicourse
Motivic Cohomology and Riemann-Roch Theorem
- Workshop
F1-Geometry and Motives
Smirnovis one of the most common last names in Russia. However, back in St. Petersburg I did write my master thesis under Alexander's supervision.)
